I totally agree. When I got circumcised it was at my future wife’s request and now it’s something that we’ll always have between us; that she made me get my foreskin cut off. I never would have had it done if not for her but now that it’s gone I’m grateful she was so insistent about it.
I think having women involved in circumcising men as young adults sets up a perfect sexual power dynamic. It lets the boys have some experience with foreskin before it’s taken away, so they know what they’re giving up, and it empowers young women by letting them shape a boy’s sexuality for their own benefit as he transitions into manhood. I know there are many more women out there who feel the same way my wife does about this, I just wish more of them were as willing to insist on it as she is.
